I attended Lefler‘s Ladies Night Class at their location on
Maxwell Avenue in Evansville, Indiana and I must say, it was a great
experience. The class is very organized with
useful and practical information, great food and other area business
participation.
Since 1952, the Lefler family has built a wonderful
reputation in the community. They maintain
4 Lefler Collision locations in Evansville and Newburgh while staying involved
with community and charitable organizations and events. Lefler’s specializes in
collision and glass repair, mechanical repair and diagnostics but for the
Ladies Night Class they specialize in information.
Attendance Gifts |
Upon arrival you register at the office and are given a gift
bag with great goodies and discounts from the participating businesses. In the next room there are tables with
information available from local groups and businesses, including a t-shirt to
commemorate the event. There was a
chiropractor performing small adjustments and providing information and a representative
from Susan G Komen was available with information on breast cancer.
Walker Studio Artistic Photography also had a table with
some of their beautiful portraits displayed.
An Arbonne representative was there with their newest products and
samples. Regis Salon had stylists on
site performing eyebrow waxing while providing shampoo samples and discount
coupons to the attendees. Also in
attendance were candle and jewelry vendors. j.Gumbo’s Cajun joint, located at
Vogel and Burkhardt catered the class with delicious Cajun foods, including
bumblebee stew and drunken chicken.
Ed Dietz and Jimmy Lefler did a wonderful job of providing
information on auto repair during the first part of the class. Automobiles are
getting more technical and it’s harder to provide any kind of maintenance on
your own. Having professionals go over what you can do, answer questions and
explain how to work with any professionals you use for maintenance and repair
was very helpful. They were able to explain things like tire pressure and
checking fluids in a way that made sense while keeping it interesting and
entertaining.

Quick Auto Accident Kit guide |
The second portion of the class involved logical information
on accidents but were things that could be forgotten during the stress of an
accident. To help you remember what to do they provided everyone with an Auto
Accident Kit. One of the most
interesting parts of the collision portion was what to expect if the accident
causes the airbag to deploy. It’s something that would be hard to imagine
unless you experience it. They actually deployed an airbag from a steering
wheel and one curtain airbag. It was loud,
really loud and followed by an unpleasant smelling smoke. Personally, I didn’t expect either of those
things and was glad to find out without having to be involved in an accident.
The night ended with attendance prize drawings for items
donated by the business’ in attendance plus Papa John’s Pizza and Altstadt Plumbing
Service. Overall, Lefler’s Ladies Night Class is a great opportunity for women
to learn more about car maintenance and what to do in the event of an accident.
